As of yesterday the branded premium paper portion of Wausau’s Fine Paper is now under the umbrella of Neenah Paper.

Wausau has been a leader in paper manufacturing with its Royal papers, Exact Index and Astro paper lines. For more than 100 years, Neenah Paper has been an innovative leader in the creation and manufacturing of premium, specialty and sustainable papers used for premium writing, text, cover, private watermarks, and specialty needs.

The purchase of Wausau is major because not only does it have a foothold in the retail market, but its Royal line offers lower cost alternatives to the Neenah's Classic line and The AstroBrights line offers the most vivid colors on the market. Neenah can now introduce itself to the retail side under the Wausau brand. In the past, Neenah has acquired paper manufacturers and downsized that brands offerings to the most popular papers. It will be interesting to see if it does the same to this line and how they integrate the two companies.

Overall, I think this is an exciting time for both companies and I look forward to seeing where Neenah can take its new Wausau family of papers.
